Actually, Connybby, I was referring to Reap. I have never played with you in ToTE, so I don't know about you, but knowing the shit you pulled in Kreland...

Mmm, the Thief.
Solo Ability --
I'll have to disagree with what people are saying about soloing bosses. They, surprisingly, can hold their own against Vallatio and Kaug, without being overpowered. With the right build. Otherwise, and on a general note, there just isn't enough going for the Thief to really solo effectively though. So for the most part, I would have to agree with Taka and Reap.
2/10
Partying --
This is where things get fun, as I type this up. I doubt any of you here have really gotten into a really high-leveled, end-game Thief, because things are always different at PoP. Hell, I'm still learning the extent of usefulness Sur Realis has to offer. I think the best thing I can do to convey how they actually, honestly, seriously are useful (and people can vouch for me here!) is go over the skills they have.
Backstab Bloody Murder Pressure Attack
At first glance, this looks like a very small list, but in this list are an infinite number of possibilities.
Quote:
Bloody Murder is handy, but so is Divide.
Divide doesn't have shit on Bloody Murder. Divide costs 5 MP, a very steep price with the Knight's maximum 13 MP. This means that Divide is only useful when directed at large, buffy enemies, Titans. Maybe Thunder Dragons, but nothing else in the game really warrants the steep price of Divide. Not only that, it is based on the Knight's chance to hit, which means it's not at all damned useful on smaller enemies, like Middle Demons. Good luck Dividing those!
But Bloody Murder? Bloody Murder is an amazing tool. It costs a mere 3 MP, at the price of it being entirely luck based. 80% chance to work on a small, 40% on a large. But forget the larges, 80% on a small? Four out of five times, Bloody Murder will succeed in one-hitting a small monster. When dealing with Middle Demons, this is amazing. Not only this, the Thief has a maximum MP of 15, allowing five uses of Bloody Murder in one go: And missing costs no MP.
And Pressure Attack? Sure, it is only a +50% boost to damage, but it also puts the enemy to sleep. This can save parties in a pinch, if there is one too many Titans, or if someone is about to die. Sur Realis was the reason some battles have been won at Titans, thanks to Pressure Attack.
And Backstab? It practically equates to a reliable Retort that often Crits. (Critical will add damage alike Retort, Mortal Wound something close to Retort Crit). Sure, it may not have an infinite number of ways to stack on damage (Jump Boost3 DragoonFury gayness), but it is one of the game's few reliable sources of damage, even if it's not a very high number, you always know the range it will land in. It is amazing in large parties, where mobs often go with living with a mere 300 or 400 HP left.
And all this coupled with the Thief's tendency to go first?
I used to agree, Thief is the worst class, but now I say it is a very useful class, that often goes under-appreciated.
Just ask Kain. I proved to him that Thieves are bad-ass, yo.
Despite having only 3 skills, I will have to say for parties that Thieves are easily a solid 7.5/10.
Fun Factor --
This would be a rather subjective section: For me, I love playing my Thief. For only having three skills, she has many options and possibilities that can, in all seriousness, make or break a battle. Of course, this is something that only really comes in the higher-ToTE-levels, so I can understand not many people finding Thieves fun.
5/10
Overall, I would have to say 5/10. They aren't the best class, lord no, but they are a step above, I'm going to say it, Black Belts, and often times Red Mages.

Re: Rate That Class! Week 4 « Result #12 on Nov 30, 2009, 9:36am »
I personally have trouble rating this class because few people (yes, that includes ToTE people) know how to effeciently use White Mages to their full potential.
--Solo Ability
Quite possibly one of the best soloers. No, I'm totally serious. Potentially excellent evasion rate thanks to Fast, potentially excellent defensive power thanks to Shield, practically an endless stream of healing power combined with Forcefield, and powerful weapons to boot. Takabby once told me that a Paladin White Mage, one of Pure Str, would actually do more damage than a grounded Dragoon or a Thief lacking Backstab. That's quite some damaging power.
And not only that, they also have a fairly excellent element, Harm, and to boot the second-most-powerful spell in the game: White.
Have you seen White on a Zombie Dragon?
Look me in the eye and say they can not nuke shit. Do it. I dare you.
The sad part about this is that, like the other two factors as you'll see, there are a rare few that can really use White Mages to their ultimate potential as any role. Their builds could perhaps be the most ambiguous of any class. Yes, even Red Mages
9/10
--Partying
This is where things get troublesome. As mentioned before, the White Mages have a shitload of potential. They practically bleed it from every orifice and pore on their body, and orifices and pores that do not exist even.
But how many people truly know White Mages to their fullest potential? Furthermore, how many use a White Mage in such a way at ToTE? Not Vahumatt. Not Button. Not even, yes, I will say it, U. Dye. I only know two people that honestly, truly know how to build White Mages and use them on that build.
I'm sure most people here can guess one of them.
That said, when speaking of White Mages on a general note.. they are, really, still amazing. I can't imagine a single party where another White Mage would not be welcome: Even if it were a party of 7 White Mages, they are ambiguous enough to even be able to beat things to death with melee. An area attack, Lightstorm, even comes with it. Perhaps they can not Defonce and Dice, Fire or Lit, but any White Mage is a healthy addition to the party.
7/10
--Fun Factor
You bastards that think you are great at White Magics but don't really know how to do it make me claw my eyes out.
The largest problem with being a White Mage is that there are people who are ungrateful to the White Mage's job. I have been in parties where people constantly bitched at me to Life them. When I had no MP. And everyone else was dying.
Faggots.

Seriously , whats wrong with starting a new server with the backup kija says he has ? I am seriously bored over here! Whats everyone else playing during the downtime?
1) It is not quite that simple. As laggy as hell Ralph's server is, it is better than the alternatives that would result in us immediately getting the server back. Considering that we waited five months for the server earlier this year, I think we can wait a little longer this time around.
2) I refuse to allow Kija to resort to using those backup save files. Only ten days my ass, that would revert me back multiple levels. That's no fun when you are in the 60s.
Lern2Patience. If you really are bored as hell, try out PSOBB.

Hey there are some very deep anime that use faces without ruining the point. I would recommend Legend of the Galactic Heroes(series) or Mobile Suit Gundam(ok the original series has a few but they're kids) if you want some anti-war motif, Akira(movie) or Memories(3 short stories) for anti-science/technology motif, Grave of the Fireflies(movie) if you want to cry, or Perfect Blue(movie) for a psychological horror.

I have the game files and a backup of the savefiles that were created before the Halloween event was setup. So, if for some reason, I could not recover the savefiles, we would only lose about ten days worth of character information. It would still be unfortunate, but it is definitely better than having nothing at all. However, I still have no further information.

If the shell server does have issues, do each of the members of the Brotherhood at least have a copy of the game? I mean it would be pretty terrible if the game couldn't come back until it was recreated. I'm mostly asking to be certain that we're not looking at the possibility of waiting anywhere from several months to even several years.

Why so serious? « Result #23 on Nov 24, 2009, 12:38pm »
Do you know any truly serious animés? I mean the ones with absolutely no ridiculous faces. You know, the kind like or . I'm mostly asking due to the fact that I haven't seen any out there other than those from Production I. G. Also, normally, I've noticed that a non-serious animé involves the journey of a somewhat immature kid.
For reference, the only serious animés I've seen all the way through in order from least serious to most serious were: Guardian of the Sacred Spirit, Le Chevalier D'Eon, Death Note, Blood +, Ghost in the Shell (both seasons of the series), The Sky Crawlers, Blood: The Last Vampire, and Ghost in the Shell (all three movies).

If I knew the reason, I would provide it, but unfortunately I do not. I have attempted to contact Ralph; however, I have not had any luck of getting a response yet.

Hmm Nov. 4th to today = 18 days , yep its been quite a week , lol!
I hope I dont get warned or banned for saying this but , what is the holdup? Are the server issues really worse than we were told or I've checked every day and I've seen nothing about this issue except the first couple of days.

Re: Rate That Class! Week 7 « Result #30 on Nov 16, 2009, 7:02am »
im gonna rate this class based on my build... which is all wp.
solo ability- They're actually very good at soloing. With all of their defensive buffs... well forcefield and barrier 3 and drain 1+2, a BM has a lot of staying power. I remember back when i was a noob, I was in a party that was on its way to TotE and the whole party had ended up dying except the BM and was able to survive by constantly draining and osmosing the chaotics. They fall short in that their natural agility is only 2 which makes them incredibly slow unless you're really overleveled. like me. They are frail but they got their buffs so that doesn't really matter. 9/10.
party ability- They can be supportive with their offensive and defensive buffs. They have all 3 elements and can pick and choose from their, with atleast 1 of the elements dealing atleast normal damage. Stop, invaluable for harvesting. only problem again is their lack of agil. I remember when i was at a proper level at titans, and we were just getting demolished... all because i was too slow to cast that bar3. so again, if you're going to be a pure build, you gotta be overleveled inorder to keep up with chaotics.. especially during 32 monster ambushes.. >_< 9/10
fun factor - When I first saw subzer0 play a BM when i first started out on this game, I remade my character right there from a Knight to a Black mage. I had so much fun with that sucker. loved the text spam from casting Psychostorms to figuring out ways to use the least amount of MP possible during my grinds at TotE. To casting Nuke and being one of the few classes to constantly have a high damage output. Parties were especially gratifying when playing with smart people and you knew their playing styles, letting battles end in only 2-3 rounds. I would try to party with my other classes, and maybe i just suck with everyone else.. cause I always find myself going back to BM, even though it is insanely overleveled. 10/10
