The server will be down till further notice. I have the say in it. I am tired of this "ZOMGZ CRASH REBOOT COMMAND PLZ" crap. www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=74301I simply had no power and you want to bitch about crap? Fuck you. As for normally rebooting the server every morning like Kija does, well, can't be possible if Kija is at my fucking house. He came up here for some time. Vacation time, at that. You keep bringing up the topic again about fucking commands, I will simply ban your fucking ass from the forums indefinitely. Enough is enough, people. Thank you and fuck off. - Mahn

Sorry to see this happen. People really shouldn't be complaining about the crashes or etc. They should be glad it is up at all. Seeing as I just started playing here, I'm saddened by your decision but I understand what you mean and why you're doing this.
P.S. Enjoy your vacation time.

Now, I don't want you all to think we hate being told of crashes. Yet everytime I'm not chained to my desk people seem to bring up players with verbs. IT. WILL. NOT. HAPPEN. If we aren't there to respond to a crash on the instant, just find something else to do, seriously. And also, if my temporary server freedom gets questioned like I'm a monitor slave again, I will NOT be pleased. I understand you meant well, but it was out of line. I don't make a salary helping run this. If anything its a detriment since I pay over 50 bucks to run a practically dead Ventrilo server for all of you. If you keep asking for more, eventually you're going to hit too far. Mahn doesn't lose his cool for no reason and neither do I.
Point in turn is, our having a life for longer than half an hour isn't an excuse to push for verbs again. If we didn't give them to Dye or Hiro or Jumin, its just not gonna come to pass. Let it drop.

I don't have anything to add about the server going down. I enjoy coming back to see how everyone is doing but I still eagerly await v8 more than regularly playing the current version. When I was barely on the team to try and remake v4 a long time ago, I couldn't take the extra responsibilities of working on the game plus work and school and a social life. It is a TON of effort, and seeing as I was new to all 3 areas of said concentration, it was too much. The brotherhood deserves mass respect for being so faithful year after year in keeping the game and its society in its current condition. On the subject of your vent server rand I should be honest about my observations. It's not worth it because people don't even voice chat in it. When I was on, there were 3? people who talked out of 5 or 7 who were logged in, and the majority of that chat was 'hi' and 'hello'.I had no idea ventrillo even allowed text chat untill I tried logging in for my first time and not getting any voice responses. Text chatting in a program made primarily for a voice chat seems to me, a joke. In FFXI we ban ventrillo servers in my endgame Linkshell(guild) unless its a.) officers only or b.) everyone in the shell can login at the same time to it; because ventrillo has that knack for forming cliques that think they are more important or closer as friends than other people with whom they play the very same game with.(THG) Which, in the end, is usually an undesireable effect. D: P.s. books.google.com/ <- while the server is down and if you absolutely hate outside, this is your new home.

Seems like a lot of unnecessary hostility being thrown out over the stupid thread I made. I'm sorry if other people have been bitching at you constantly on MSN, Rand. The only reason I ever thought to ask for access to the reboot verb in the first place is so people WOULD leave you guys the fuck alone sometimes. As upset as you're getting over the whole situation, it's very obvious THG is becoming more of a burden to you than anything. I recognized that fact long ago, and I don't bother you guys with petty shit as a result, and look for ways to lessen the petty shit coming across your collective plates. If this is a petty problem you don't wish to assuage, that's fine, and I assure you I only had the interests of lessening your workload and aggravation when it came to THG.

Trust me LP, if you were close to the only one I'd tell you. Its just a bitch when you can't have a weekend to yourself. I got the ventrilo server because people at the time asked for it and said they would use it. I can always let the subscription in it die, but if I do I won't be hosting it again later. More later, more work rolled in.

Do what I do Rand, have it set to auto-appear offline. Only the few who know I do that MSN me. When I appear online I get msg about things too.
All in all, How many times has this shit happened? I mean seriously, atleast 75% of the players need to get off and enjoy the sunshine. I ahve no room speaking playing my 360 all day but would anyone else go outside when a storm has hit your area for the past, what, 7 or 8 days straight?
MSN me sometime Rand my messenger is always up while on 360 and I answer when I'm not shooting people xD

I've always thought that a few trusted players could act as moderators in order to let the BH work on developing the game and enjoying their personal lives instead of babysitting us whining morons. It seems that you do not see the same merit in the idea. Fair enough.

Just so you understand...
The game isn't coded for "moderators".
If you wanted verbs you'd need a robe or thousands of lines of code would need to be changed to allow one or two mods. Not worth it.
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating. But it's still alot of coding that would need to be changed.

Actually, the Brotherhood member list and the moderator list is already seperate, so very little would have to be done. However, one of the things I like about this game is that there are not a bunch of moderators running around that do not need to be done. Yes, sometimes things happen, but they are eventually taken care of. The Brotherhood does everything for the game. We do not accept outside work, moderation, or any sort of donation for the game. I like that fact. I know that people want to help, but giving away too much is just not reasonable.
There are few players on the game that I could really trust to moderate it, and allowing them to do so just opens up even more problems. So far, the current setup has worked out pretty well. I do not like giving too much power to players because it is not really that neccesary. The server being down for a few hours can be annoying, but there are plenty of other things to do as well.
Having more time to develop the game would be nice, but moderating the game is a pretty minor aspect if people do not expect a member to reboot the game within three minutes. Even if we did have player moderators, such expectations are pretty high.

The idea has been shot down since '05. Read it again, with me. 2005.
The denial of this idea is older than my robes by TWO YEARS. I stands by the decision and see the wisdom inherent in it. Nothing more or less.
