Oh, no no. You misunderstand me, although probably from my own wording. I merely meant a revival of a topic, and not the thread itself. Thread necromancy has a rule against it, and I do not wish to go against that. However, for a topic itself, if it helps increase activeness, perhaps a new thread could be started when the mood is right. That is what I had meant.

Sadly the last time something like this came around, the 'ban' thread, it ended up largely being to booster post count rather than for more original, funnier things as intended. However, if everyone agrees, possibly the "IE Returns!" thread could be changed into a place to put quotes of Irony Engine kicking people around; this way, at least the person was somewhat active somewhere.

If we do something like that, at least we should somehow make sure it does not go out of control like the ban game.

I think it would be unlikely to go out of control, because asking people to post quotes of the battle, then they are going to have to go out of their way, get on THG, get in a battle, have something ironic happen, and post it there without it being outright marked as 'spam' ~ off-topic.
And, honestly, I don't know about anyone else, but I save a lot of funny things that happen in battle. I still have that one time where Kayohs Realis soloed Vallatio, winning with a Retort that did 216 DMG to Vallatio, leaving Kayohs with 1 HP and 0 MP. If not ironic, it was very, very cool.
The only problem here is if people fake or force irony, but knowing Irony Engine, that won't work anyway.

I think that generally someone would say "Hey let's get back on topic" before it steers off like the ban game thread did. I don't think a thread could "derail" that much.
Anyways, I think turning the "IE Returns!" thread into what you had said is a good idea, it'd make it more important (by important I mean have more posts/more interest/etc).

Actually, I think the ban game stayed on topic. The problem really was that it was only the same, what, 4 people posting, and it filled the 30 new posts link a lot? That's the whole reason on the locked thread.

That's the whole reason on the locked thread. Yeah, but... ban game was for buffing post count. I'm like the only person that went further than 'text' to ban someone. (BANS, My Anti-Drug). Unless someone posts something stupid like * Imp -- Lured, then they really aren't boosting post counts and are actually kinda contributing something to the topic, whether it's just to say one thing or something else is awesome or to submit their own awesome thing.

I'll just say that it makes no sense to fear getting in trouble for making a new thread on something if the old one is locked. I know some of them are like that and if that's what you had in mind, don't worry. Now, if it's been dead for four months and you post "LOL", I'll come to your house and beat your face in.

And here I thought we would be talking about how awesome Obama is. :/ Either way, I don't really care. I remember when the forums where super busy, but it normally was a lot of conflict. I remember Kain and I making certain topics hot topics because we'd just bitch at each other. All in all, I agree with Vahu, and I think the "most users online" figure should change naturally and not be forced. I'm sorry Realis, but you can't force people to communicate with you and the few that post on the forums. I find communication in the game more enjoyable anyways. I've always thought of forums as a place for organized thoughts and permanance. That's why v8 got such a huge boom on the forums. I think that you'll see a large increase in activity when v8 is finally released, with the increase in everyone's opinions and wanting their voice heard on story/map/battle/monsters/magic/skills etc. If you're patient, they will come.
