Well the supposed to be 8-Dragoon Magora party turned into a 7-Dragoon Magora party on this past Sunday, January 22nd, In the year of our Lord 2006. The group consisted of: Gonz, Hezron's Son - Anara MC Dark Dragon - Anara MC Bolt - Lirea Slash - Dainan Edgar - Hassen Great Milenko Akuma Before we left, we waited for Brandish and Kyou to see if they would show up...after about 10 minutes, we agreed to just go, before we left, Jumin made a remark about the max dmg his goon did was 600(w/ a boost), Gonz quickly reminded Jumin that Jumin is a blackmage, and knows nothing of a Dragoons, after that we left and went to the shrine and made a few declarations... We were quickly ambushed a few steps before the hole into the spiral center towards magora, since there were only 7 members, Slash advised he grab his thief, Ong-Bak, to run us there, we agreed to recall, and regrouped with the Ong-Bak express. With the confident Gonz leading, and MC Dark Dragon and Slash usually getting the run in before Ong-Bak did, we made it there in no time with the exception of 2-3 "quick" ambushes. Once we reached, Slash briefed them on how the battle was to be won, we left Ong-Bak outside, and Gonz bellowed a fearless chant before rushing the others into battle. On about the third turn, MC Bolt forgot to jump, and was nuked, but stood strong with a good chunk of HP left, it was a damn good laugh for the guys though. After everyone was out of jumps, Magora poisoned MC Bolt, and Bolt went down, but he wasnt out, we continued to assault Magora in a def/jump pattern, I believe it was Edgar she had rubbed into oblivion, as everyone defended, Slash did not have the shield icon on his head, when he struck Magora, her sprite slowly vaporized, and that huge chunk of EXP lit up on all of our screens. Slash had been calculating the dmg, but he wasn't telling the others what her HP was for morale purposes, in the end, the Dragoons went back to Tote having done what no group has done before... Congratz to you all, and an honor to fight by your side... -Gonz

IN fact, why don't you enlighten me, and tell me what makes a goon so special.

Yeah, I also want to know what was so special about this particular Magora battle. It wasn't 'no damage taken', since you said that Bolt got Nuked. It wasn't 'no deaths', since Edgar got Rubbed. So what was it? What was so amazing that warranted a post with a hint of arrogance?

Whats up with all the hate? I posted to let you guys know that we succeeded in what we had set out to do, I didnt ask for praise, And it is the final boss so far, it wasn't supposed to be an easy battle, and if you all knew that it would be so easy, how come so many people were like, yeah right good luck, and o yeah her defense is so buffed, and now this resentment...and the so called arrogance, well that is pride, and everytime you make a character I am sure there is SOME pride you take in making it, when your char delivers the last hit to a boss, you take some pride in it, anyhow I "apologize" for making this thread, and for Kyou's remark, heh true power, I have been to SS, I know all about the benefits of quicksilver, had grygasz down to 700 HP on a solo thanks to it, but again I didnt mean to upset so many people I just figured you wanted to know after I made the thread about the time frame about doing it...

There's a difference between pride and comments like 'Jumin made a remark about the max dmg his goon did was 600(w/ a boost), Gonz quickly reminded Jumin that Jumin is a blackmage, and knows nothing of a Dragoons'.
That doesn't sound like pride. If anything, it sounds like 'shut up; you don't have a Dragoon as your main, so you're obviously not qualified to have a reliable opinion on the class'. Plus, I'm still genuinely interested in knowing what this party did that 'no group has done before'.
Was there anything special at all, as opposed to the mention being thrown in to make the victory stand out compared to other Magora slayings? Was it the fastest Magora victory? Least damage taken? Over 600 damage to Magora with a single Jump? First single-class victory against Magora?

What made it special I guess, was the fact that everyone there was not a dragoon, and we had to take out a couple of "smalls" before we had to attack magora in the 1st place. The fact that we had no healers, lifers, boosters to deal with her monstrous defense, and other classes that could buff our defense, resistance against magic, etc, I suppose made it that more special than the ordinary magora fight. That's not to say that no other class couldn't accomplish this, but still, this fight is special none the less.
The fact that all of you are calling it arrogance is a little bit retarded. Especially since majority of you are the ones who said we had no chance. Ironic, ey? Everyone is fond of their favorite classes, and to sit there and pick out dragoons as the most arrogant class when so many others rep their classes is stupid.
Also every class is special in their own right, so asking what makes dragoons special is ridiculous. But just to make it clear, aren't dragoons the Kings of physical single enemy damage? Yea, guess we found one thing that makes us special.
On another note. Why would you compare all dragoons to Kain, and then act like he is THAT much better/cooler than we are? Seriously, that insults just about every other character with a dragoon, and I'm 99% sure you don't know all dragoon players as well as you're playing like you do.
And to the person who says why don't we NOT use jump, and use Quick Silver and SS to fight? Well the fact that slip strike is just a waste of MP, and it's barely stronger than a normal attack should give you your answer right there. Quick Silver is sometimes used, but honestly we don't always need to use it as you are making it out to be. I personally do not like to let battles drag on longer than they should, so I try and end them as fast as possible. Besides these obvious things however, why should we need to make a build of str and agl and use these skills to prove our worth? I have gotten by just fine with my pure str build.
And saying that dragoons need to be nerfed just because of this? Wow. Just wow.
Take this post how you want. I could care less. Just the fact that people sit here and ask what makes this so special, AFTER saying we had no chance and also bash the other dragoon players is the reason for this post.

OK, whatever. The high defense of Magora and her minions made it hard for a physical class like Dragoons given that there was noone to bolster your damage or deal with their defense. Yet you gloss over that a party consisting of other raw melee classes like Knights, Thieves and Fighters would have mostly the same problems (Bloody Murder and Divide only go so far in utility)? OK, whatever. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but people haven't held their tongues in regards to complaining about one or more of the classes I listed above. This is not some grand conspiracy to dogpile on Dragoons while treating every other class as media darlings, so stop treating it like one. Arrogance is arrogance, no matter how much of a persecution complex you imply the majority of the playerbase and Brotherhood has towards Dragoons in an attempt to justify that arrogance. When a player mouths off about how Knights are the best overall, they're met with criticism. When a player mouths off about how Black Mages are the kings of magic slinging, they're met with criticism. When a player mouths off about how Dragoons are the kings of damage, they're met with criticism. This is not something that only Dragoons 'suffer' from. As such, stop acting like Dragoons are like the computer nerd that gets bullied by the sports jocks (represented by everyone else). Also every class is special in their own right, so asking what makes dragoons special is ridiculous. But just to make it clear, aren't dragoons the Kings of physical single enemy damage? Yea, guess we found one thing that makes us special. So let me get this straight. You act indignant after Slick's ORIGINAL POST infers something unique and special had occurred, then go on to explain how what happened may have been special. Why bother saying something if you're just going to contradict yourself one sentence later? On another note. Why would you compare all dragoons to Kain, and then act like he is THAT much better/cooler than we are? Seriously, that insults just about every other character with a dragoon, and I'm 99% sure you don't know all dragoon players as well as you're playing like you do. I think Kyou's point is that Kain doesn't make a habit of saying things like 'This fight is one where we did something that no other party has done before', nor does he have a tendency to crow about the superiority of Dragoons when it comes to damage. He's more restrained and humble; the majority of conflicts he gets into have nothing at all to do with Dragoons. As such, being more like Kain means not being in a hurry to point out how awesome and powerful Dragoons are. If a class is really that good, it will sell itself; it won't need spokespeople doing around saying 'Man, you need to make a Dragoon! They're the best at dealing damage to a single target and you get to JUMP ON STUFF! My God, isn't that just the greatest thing in the history of history!?'. And to the person who says why don't we NOT use jump, and use Quick Silver and SS to fight? Well the fact that slip strike is just a waste of MP, and it's barely stronger than a normal attack should give you your answer right there. I have gotten by just fine with my pure str build. ...you know that whoever said that you need to use Quicksilver and Slipstrike (one of which is known as the worst ability Dragoons have, and possibly the worst in the game) was being sarcastic, right? It's easier to just assume everyone is out to ruin the name of Dragoons, I know, but you have to have hope in your fellow posters. Ok, this I will retype the post, since it came across the wrong way, I wanted to do it sooner, but I had to work overtime at work to make up for some stuff... I would like to extent my personal thanks to the following dragoons who assisted in the 7-Dragoon Magora slaying party: Slash MC Dark Dragon MC Bolt Akuma Great Milenko Edgar These men assisted my brother's character (Gonz) on a mission to kill Magora using their unique ability "jump." Since we only had seven slots, we got Ong-Bak, Slash's thief, to run us to Magora. Though there were a couple of ambushes along the way, we managed to skate through them, this boosted the party morale for the upcoming test might. When it was time, we were surrounded by middle demons, it was most logical to take them out first, and it was agreed, I believe Great Milenko had the hardest hit out of the group, and the MC Crew (Dark Dragon and Bolt) had the best dragoon fury's, Edgar maintained calm and seemed to have gotten the most hits from his regular jumps, and Slash was all power wielding his mighty halberd into battle. After our 14 turns of free flying, Slash remained grounded and melee'd showing valor equivalent to that of a knight, determined to strike the death blow, which he did. It was an honor to fight with these men, these dragoons, and I just wanted to share with the community that we were indeed successful in slaying the final boss known as Magora, and I hope to be someday maybe taking a group of knights, or blackbelts down there one day... Congratz to you all, it was an honor to fight by your side -Gonz

....so, Slick's initial post says there were nothing but Dragoons in the party, but you say that what made it special was that not everyone was a Dragoon. K, 1st off, maybe you wouldn't have known this, but I screwed up the 1st sentence. Every human messes up at one point or another. And also, did you read the part where I said that it's very possible for other classes to do the same thing we did? Nope, you didn't, or you would not have made a statement completely ignoring the fact that I had that statement there. Yea, your 1st critique of what I said failed hard. Next. ....Perhaps you haven't noticed, but people haven't held their tongues in regards to complaining about one or more of the classes I listed above. Once again I was referring to the people who specifically said Dragoon arrogance (They were talking about us a a collective). Maybe you consider what Bolt or whoever it was, that told jumin "you are a mage, you know nothing about dragoons" assumed that he (Jumin), didn't have a mage, until jumin revealed that he did. Not arrogance. Just a bad assumption. If you think that a person has never played a certain class, then is it not logical to assume that they know nothing about that class, save for what they are told of it? Also, maybe you haven't noticed, but on this thread, the majority are making comments against dragoons, or the players of them anyways. I'm commenting on the things said in this thread, and this thread alone. Hope that clarifies a my post for you. Maybe you didn't notice, but I was criticizing what was going on in this THREAD, not the game. So what does this point have to do with anything I said, when I was referring to the comments made about what was going in here, as in this thread, as in this one situation? So let me get this straight. You act indignant after Slick's ORIGINAL POST infers something unique and special had occurred, then go on to explain how what happened may have been special. Why bother saying something if you're just going to contradict yourself one sentence later? Heh. If you didn't notice, people asked what made dragoons special. Me realizing that every class is good at one thing or another, said that every class is special in their own right. Then I brought up the point that dragoons are known to be the Kings of physical dmg to a single enemy. How is this contradicting myself, may I ask? Because I don't see it. I was referring to both Kyou's and Hiroshima's posts, so you can interpret that one however you wish. I was taking care of two posts at one time. It's wonderful to wish that every one would be more like a person you consider to be the standard for that specific group. However this will never be the case since we are all different in our own ways. ...you know that whoever said that you need to use Quicksilver and Slipstrike (one of which is known as the worst ability Dragoons have, and possibly the worst in the game) was being sarcastic, right? It's easier to just assume everyone is out to ruin the name of Dragoons, I know, but you have to have hope in your fellow posters. Entertain the thought that not everyone hates Dragoons (as hard as it may seem) and realize that sometimes people like to employ satire, sarcasm or obviously false statements when they make posts. Your blood pressure and sanity will thank you. Meh, no evidence of sarcasm was shown, so I am not the type to assume that it was there. Also once again, I never said or even implied that I thought everyone was out to get dragoons, excluding the part where I mentioned someone mentioning dragoons getting nerfed. If you read my post, I make it very clear that I am criticizing the posts in this thread. Don't know how you missed that. Guess i didn't make it obvious enough, eh? Anyways, I love how you tried to pick apart my post and missed the point of and the reasons behind 95% of it completely. And Sarm, yea, kindly keep quiet. You can say that the smileys mean sarcasm, but they can also be out of spite. You see it from your point of view, I see it from another. For example. I can easily say "You're a dumb ass ;D", and how would you ever know if I'm being serious or sarcastic?

Maybe because Knights or Fighters can do more damage then Dragoons to single monsters. Why would Dragoons be the Kings of physical damage to single monsters when Fighters and Knights can do more damage than them? You see, you just represent YOUR class and not worried about ALL the classes in general. Maybe you should open up your eyes and start noticing EVERYTHING that goes on within the game, because clearly, you and others (generalizing) only care about yourselves. Slick "re-made" his post and I don't see anything wrong with it. Why try to continue the argument that most likely, would have ended, when Slick fixed it right there in his post? You see, people here, alot of people, are selfish and "close-minded". People who play this game need to open their minds and eyes to EVERYTHING that goes on and just not relate to things "thrown" at "them". I'm done with this thread. I'll let Faruconeru finish it off. If it becomes a Flame War, I will start handing out punishments. Good day to you.

I will not "kindly keep quiet" for you. Why would I be spiteful for a Magora party? I don't give a flying fuck about Dragoons. Edit: You underestimate a person's ability to convey meaning through text. After that giant wall of words you threw at Takahashi, why would you expect your example to be seen as any way? I've been called an asshole many times and I've never had a problem discerning the person's intent. My original post wasn't attacking you in any way. The Brotherhood has stated before that Dragoons are a sort of special ops class for powerful single-target attacks, and your party chose to maximize that potential. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and while I was curious if such a thing were possible I wasn't naysaying anybody's ability.

Wow, I made my post after reading Takahashi's. I did not see Slicks post. I'm not going to sit there and let someone screw up what I was saying without responding. As I'm sure most people would do.
I'm close minded? Not even close. I said that each class is special in their own right so how was I only thinking about myself? Also, I NEVER stated that they are kings of damage as a part of my opinion. I said they are known/considered to be the kings of physical dmg to single opponents since that is what they specialize in. Am I right? Or else they would have been given skills that hit multiple opponents. But they weren't, they have the ability to attack one, and only one at a time.
Once again, I fail to see how I'm close minded and favor dragoons especially when I have a Knight(50), Ranger(56), White Mage(35), Blue Mage(32), and a Black Belt(1, I'll lvl him after I'm done with my two mages.). But I guess assumptions of me lead to such statements. And If you are wondering why I posted the lvls. It's to show that I spend a good amount of time on other class types. Though I have two dragoons (both at 54), I hope that it's clear to you that you were completely wrong in assuming that I favor this one class and ignore the rest.
I am also done with this thread since people seem to take my words and royally screw/ badly misinterpreting everything I say and completely miss the point. I don't know how hard it was to make sense of my post since I clearly said what I meant every time I made a comment. However I could care less. Whether or not anyone sees what I'm saying is up to the reader. I'm not going to waste my time breaking it anymore.
It would be much appreciated if someone commented for once after reading and understanding what I was saying and why I was saying it.
And to Sarm, maybe you misunderstood what I said. I meant it could be interpreted as spiteful in the sense that one would think you want dragoons to be nerfed simply because you don't give a fuck about them as you just said, so it would not matter to you what happened to them if they were to get nerfed. As I said in my post, it can be interpreted in different ways, despite what you were intending for it to mean. Also, I never accused you of doubting our party's ability to win the battle.

Edit to your edit: My comment about my disinterest for Dragoons was made after you tried to call me on the "nerf" remark, so that would have nothing to do with anybody's initial reaction. Mahn seemed to understand the joke well enough.
I wasn't responding to any of the attacks made to you about any so-called arrogance on your part.
(Please just make a reply now instead of doing extra edits. My brain will explode if I have to juggle pages to keep up, and I doubt you'd find it fun to do this either)

ok, remember my initial comment about my boosted goon? Maybe you guys took it the wrong way since you guys were constantly told that you were gonna fail. I was just throwing out what my goon experience was like and wanted to caution you guys, and that reply about not knowing anything was very hurtful.
