This was, for the most part, created for U. Dye and Reap, in explanation for what I was talking about in-game before I was told to leave.
Upon becoming Enlightened, your character receives 300 hitpoints and 30 points to each battle stat. Willpower goes up by 30, which is 30 more hitpoints healed. With the subtraction of the 50 million experience bonus, characters no longer have the ability to achieve level 50 instantly and learn spells like Healstorm 3. I am talking about white mages, for the most part, as my primary playing class.
Now, at level 43, I am at about 650 hitpoints. I have 264 magicpoints. Cure 3 is 35 MP for a 500 HP heal. Harm 3 is 40 MP for 500 points of damage. So, let's say I get into a fight with a single other partner, perhaps a knight. This knight would have, what, 700-800 hitpoints? The monsters are doing about 100-125 damage average per hit against say, 4 enemies. Each enemy has an average of 1500 hitpoints. In order to kill a single one, I'd expend 120 magic points. Then I'd need to periodically heal myself and the Knight with Cure 3, because I don't have HS3 and HS2 only cures about 250. Let's say that that took 2 cure 3's for me and 1 for him. That's 105 MP. I've used 225 MP dispatching, at the most, TWO enemies.
And this is keeping in mind that this is a two man party. As far as I know, there are far fewer white mages in TotE then any other vocation. If I wanted to get into a party with seven other people, how would I even be of any use? I can only heal about 250 HP per party member with HS2 and with as many enemies as there are, my party members could be taking as much as 500 points of damage per round. It's simply impossible.
At Mona, where I had plenty of time to get a feel for how to win a battle, I could solo pretty easily. Cure 2 healed about 200 HP and I only had around 350 HP. Harm 3 did around 450 points of damage and the strongest monster had like 2,200 hitpoints. Zombie dragons took twice as much damage from Harm 3, approximately 2 Harm 3's and a Harm 1. That's like, 95 MP? Cure 2 is, what? 20 MP? I'm pulling these numbers off the top of my head, but I can't be too far off.
I simply don't have enough MP anymore to compensate for the amount of HP everyone receives, and the increase to willpower was anything but help.
I'm not writing this to tell the Brotherhood that becoming Enlightened doesn't increase enough, I'm writing this for U. Dye and Reap, because apparently I'm an idiot and have no idea what I'm talking about. Reap doesn't want me in the game, either, so I'll post this and disappear for his sake.
