The Brotherhood have their own lives to tend to - THG isn't their full-time job. Mahn also hasn't logged on in ages, and the only thing that lets us know that he's alive is that he posted that the server was moving for some odd unknown reason a while back. I logged on plenty of times, every day, and have even partied trying to level. Not my fault there are no mona parties with a healer I can jump in on...

Thanks for the clarification, I'll fix that.

Yeah so far THG does look like it SHOULD come back, but no one knows for sure the course of which it will go.
Yay fate.

Before I had originally gone on my vacation, I was forced to ban at LEAST one person every two weeks. At least. Some came back, some not. But it eventually wore me down and grew tiresome. How hard is it to NOT be a flaming asshole to people just because it's online? How hard is it to follow a SIMPLE set of rules that are available around every corner? It's NOT. Before I was a staff member, my biggest offense in all my time (years) of playing was a SINGLE jail, and that was because we were joking around and I took something a wee bit too far. That's it. IT. ISNT. HARD. And people who won't make that tiny effort deserve what they get.
People have wondered if THG is dying for years. I'll believe it when it's permanently offline and not before.

The game is not going to die for a while. There will be fewer players, but for it to die, people would have to stop caring and plenty people still care.
During version four, what people essentially said for years was "The game is dying." "Version five is never going to be released." "Where is version five? It does not even exist. The game is dead." Well, it is version seven now for those not aware, and version eight will come too, eventually.
I had not worked on Geyzer for a while because I wanted to finish the new battle engine first, as it would have made things a lot easier and not require me to redo the battle afterwards. However, since it was taking a while, I decided to finish Geyzer anyways so people would have something new to enjoy. It will just be another boss battle I have to redo later. I was hoping to have Geyzer pretty much finished now when I started working on him again, but unfortunately some scheduling problems with my job and other has prevented me to actually do anything beyond waking up and not being here. I will be trying to finish him soon though.

I think, but I'm not sure, if I was playing at the time. But I can remember something like that loooooooooong ago on this game. And usually it was the players that didnt give a shit for the game, or just ran through the game in like 5 days. They dont realize anything abuot the game. They just think of the game as a storyless game with no point but to kill things whenever you see it and if you die you go back and hopefully get lucky. Its about strategy and teamwork. And if you dont have that you will die every time.
Version 8 WILL come but it ill be slower due to the amount of BrotherHood remaining. And not everyone can get on every second of their lives. As Kija stated, He hasnt been able to get to things for a while due to work and the other things in his life. We just have to be patient. It'll come around, in time.

As a bit of a comparison to THG's current 'dire' situation, fans of Doom 1/2 have been saying that those two games are dying out and that very soon no one will play them in any form again. They've been saying this for the better part of a decade now, and offshoots of Doom 1/2 like zDaemon and Skulltag are played on a daily basis with hundreds of servers available covering the various game types. Levels are still being made for play up to the current day as well, so it's not just a matter of playing the same old material over and over.
So, just because some things happen that appear to damage a game, whether it be the simple passing of time or staff members leaving, it does not guarantee that the game itself will die out in short order. Like Kija noted, up until v4 it was assumed that THG v5 would never come out and that the game was on life support. The BH ranks appeared to be largely inactive, with members showing up once in a while and it seemed like nothing would be done. In time, new staff members were brought in and the majority of them stuck around to rebuild things. Ultimately this led to v5 and eventually v6 and v7.
Now again it seems like things are going to be dead in the water. It's been a while since the last version was released, the BH again seem to be doing a lot of nothing at first glance, and the number of BH members has dwindled. Concerns are high and some seem to have the impression that this time... this time THG truly IS dying. All I can say is wait and see. THG and the BH have had low points before and recovered. I've no reason to think that this time will be the exception.

So i'll openly admit that i haven't read half of this thread, i didn't have time to read the book that ya'll wrote on the second page. seriously. uh, few comments, THG may be in a slight decline, which imo is very similar to the decline during the Version4 years...when Version5 was in very very very slow development, and yes, the sudden drop in BH members is not helpful, i regret not being able to be an asset any longer, it sucks. TTHg will return with Version8 seeing as how it will once again have new areas, in fact, it'll practically be a new game in and of itself. that generally would help generating more players to log in and play on it.
for others:
Theh Intarnets is srs bisnes. lulz.
anway, now that i've got my new macbook (today) i'm'a download Byond on in and start logging in some more, yah?
come to think of it, does anyone even remember me? lol
oh, and mahn, what WoW server do you play on? i've got a job now, so i can pay for myself and play with you, and probably Rand. lol

All this talk about FF:THG dying makes me want to go buy a huge posterboard and have every currently active player sign it, then hold it up and yell, "Does it LOOK dead? DOES IT!?"
But my opinion has changed since my previous post: the activity (or positive activity at any rate) is declining some, but that doesn't mean it's dying. Stocks lower occasionally, and they rise again. People have bad days and end up cheery later. Things can look bad before they get better. I have high hopes for FF:THG in the future, and as long as it's around (and I have free time of course) I'll continue to play.
Anyways, that's just my opinion.

Lol, hey Hiro. But yeah Kija your right, it would COMPLETELY die but it's fading for the time. Once something drastic or interesting happens everyone will come back. Who knows maybe less people for now would let people enjoy THG more then just being a Lavi.

Though FFTHG is dying, I can very well believe it can make a comeback. After the geyzer update, and possibly when we add the new area, It's very likely a good amount of people will come back/start playing. Non-believers.

FFTHG isn't dying out because of the number of players or the intelligence of the players as much as it is because the members of the Brotherhood have been dropping off of the face of Darlow and giving up their robes. If they die out, who will hold onto the game afterwards? I can imagine that it would be an extremely difficult decision to make, and it could easily result in the game's degradation. Even worse, if too many members leave, there will be no version 8 unless it is handed over or launched as if, if that's even possible as it is. Also, who could blame them for leaving? You have to realize how many years they've put into this game and how much crap they've had to deal with. People come into a game and deliberately talk about what problems it has if they don't get it yet. Not only that, but people that aren't noobs or oldies are complaining about reboots and having certain verbs and whatnot.
I will say that the intelligence level on world say has gotten much lower since the old days. It's what makes this game slightly less interesting. The only really interesting one I've seen in months is a conversation about whether mankind is evolving or devolving. Other than that, it's the same thing every day, making it a wonder that the Brotherhood has been around for as long as it has.
Not to mention, there's also a decline in the high-level older people in this game, which also contributes to less interesting conversation and fewer people to properly teach the new players how to enjoy the game. What the game needs now is players who care enough to help the new players, people who don't tell them that they should just jump into Darlow with no training or that the game is glitchy and can't be completed, both of which I've heard before.
This game has the capability to rise, but it needs help. I don't want to see it die.

And we all want to believe it isnt dying but with the noobs coming in and just screwing around and getting banned because they didnt know the rules makes it hard to believe... I DONT think its dying, it CAN make a comeback, and v8 WILL come.

I haven't left. I just don't have internet right now cause we had to move in with my girlfriend's parents. They live in the boonies where you can only get dial up, and they have the free dial up. It's the slowest shit ever. Not to worry though, I'll be back, kicking ass and taking names soon enough. Once we get our own place out this way where we can get decent internet. If we can't get fast internet where we move to, we're going to look into getting a mobile broadband card. So, I'm not back just yet, but I haven't quit. Right now I'm on the girlfriend's brother's computer.

Hmm...after basically a two year hiatus, I cannot see anything wrong, but then again I have been gone for basically two years. The player base, at least in regards to numbers, seem as solid as I remember when I left; but I definitely did miss seeing some of the older faces when I came back today. Hop ethey didn't all leave.
