Name: Corey
Age: 19
I downloaded BYOND on 5/5/05 to play a DBZ game with a couple friends from school. Yeah, I know, I made a boo boo with that one. I started playing FFTHG around...4 years ago? Some time in V7, around a month or two before all classes' level requirement's were switched to the Blue Mage's requirements.
I'm currently attending Springfield College in Massachusetts as a sophomore going for a degree in Sport Management. I have extensive knowledge of baseball statistics, including a division referred to as sabermetrics, which work to use calculus in order properly evaluate a player's contributions over a season. I expect (or perhaps hope is a better word) to get a job somewhere in baseball after I graduate.
Academically, I consider myself a lost mind. I probably had the ability to be a top student in my class in high school. I could do calculations in my head faster than anyone else could (and at one point, just as fast as they could punch it into a calculator). I could write an excellent paper when I applied myself to the assignment. I could easily memorize anything I needed to for a science or history class. I could read incredibly fast after I started visualizing the story instead of just seeing it as words.
The only problem is that I needed motivation, and simply put, it's not something I had unless I had a C in a class. So while I was good enough to get into a decent college, I feel that I have failed. I'm also not quite as naturally smart as I once was. I cannot do calculations nearly as fast. I can't read like I once could, and thus, I am now very slow at reading (unless I'm just skimming for a specific bit of information). I can't memorize whatever I want by look at it. I can still write at least (though this post looks poorly written thus far). I honestly don't know what happened. My thinking just seemed to slow (and I was not assisted by any sort of outside agent such as drugs).
For music, I generally listen to a bunch of rap. I stay away from Lil' Wayne and Soulja Boy though. I don't know how anyone can stand those guys.
I play video games far less than I did years ago. They've just lost much of their appeal to me when I consider other things I could be doing.
You've seen The 40 Year Old Virgin? Take that guy, multiply him by 2000, and you have my success with women. I have never danced with a girl. I don't even think I've even hugged a girl (I'm not a redneck, so family doesn't count). "What are you, gay?" Nah, far from it. I'm not even that shy any more...I guess it's just that I only come to like girls that I get to know, and then I never think I'm good enough for them because I consider my looks to be subpar. I'm pretty skinny, and my face has cleared of its acne, but more than half of the guys here are jacked, so by comparison, I'm like iron compared to gold.
And now, I believe I've made this post a bit too long.

Hey Assailant. I enjoyed your last post.
Mmm...
Struggling with certain adminstrative protocols of the Navy for a month and a half now. Imagine my chagrin when I went to start my separation paperwork, my time all done, ready to rejoin the civilian sector, only to discover there was still twelve months, a full freaking year of service stated on my record. I was furious, and became mired in a frenzy of frustration.
See I originally signed a five year contract with a bonus for the extra year of service if I completed IT "A" school. Needless to say I failed IT school and ended up on the USS IWO JIMA minus the bonus, and working in the deck department of said ship.
A year later I found myself working in the supply department with absolutely no room for advancement while friends I used to work with in deck had already moved up to pay grades. ::sigh::
Oh well. Looking forward to getting out. Just finished writing up the paperwork to process out today. It took a full month longer than it freaking should have. These things happen. A lot.
Totally had a awful day today. The marines that I work with have been giving me grief, and my superior officerrs have been.. well probably best not to type it while they are in the room with me.

I'm known as Vahu, or Havu or other variations of my characters such as Moiraine on FFTHG. My real name is Matt and I'm 24 years of age. I had a good childhood filled with good memories, mostly video games, yay! I've been playing video games ever since I was around 5 years old. On one christmas, my brother and I received a NES challenge set which contained the NES itself, 2 controllers and Super Mario Bros. 3 and we also got TMNT 3: The Manhattan project because we were crazy bout TMNT at the time, lol. From there, I usually ended up playing what we could access and what looked interesting as we didn't have much info on video games at this point. On the NES we played Mario 2 and 3(couldn't find the first one for rent) and most of the megaman games also some odd others (Bart simpson, and Glove ball with a standard controller; never owned a power glove, thankfully) at the time. Back then though, we both didn't have much of an allowance that allowed us buy video games so we took what we could get, which was usually a new game around christmas. As the years went by we got a Snes and later a nintendo 64 and playstation. It was around this point where we had money to buy a few video games here and there. Since we didn't buy games that often, I usually ended up replaying a lot of them over and over again. I've beaten Super Mario RPG (my first rpg game ever) over 50 times at least (I actually had a period where I rented it so much and counted how many times I beat it; went up to 30 and stopped counting after that). I remember getting the FFVII demo from the playstation package itself but never touched for years (I have no idea why; guess we were afraid to try new things or something). I think around this time I actually started keeping up with news of the video game industry through gamespot(This show is now X-Play) on what is now G4TV. Something sparked me to get Final Fantasy 9; not sure what but it was the first final fantasy game I played and I loved it. Skip around some years until 2005. One night I got bored and was looking for some sort of pokemon fan game to play if there was any. So I googled "Pokemon fan games" or something to that effect and the 2nd result was a Pokemon RP game on BYOND. So I clicked, and thus my main key was born! I spent bout two years playing on that game and met some friends. In july of 2007, my friends Lera, Sevzy, and Rajah found a game called FFTHG on BYOND and invited me to join. So I joined and created my first character, Firefury(or Vahu) the Dragoon. We partied for a little bit and then I decided to recreate because Rajah was already a goon and I wanted to add some variety to our team. So I recreated into Vahu the Fighter. At the time our team consisted of Lera (Bm), Sevzy (RM), Rajah (Dragoon), and me the fighter. Sadly Lera and Sevzy no longer play on FFTHG, but Rajah comes on every once in a while. I've playing FFTHG ever since, usually off and on nowadays. Every year since I was born I've been sick, sometimes numerous times in the year. This trend was finally put to rest when I turned 19. Some of it was due to asthma. I'm allergic to cats, ragweed, dust and mold. Around when I was 12 years old, I started getting allergy shots to help reduce my asthma. This lasted for about a year or two. Now I hardly have a problem with my asthma, though I still keep an inhaler around just in case. During my sophomore year of high school in 2001 exactly 3 months after 9/11 I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I had surgery in the same day and the next year followed up with 3 months of chemotherapy, which in a word, sucked, but was necessary. I beat it otherwise I wouldn't here today. Glad to say I'm nearly 9 years cancer free and I hope to never have a relapse. My hobbies include: Video games, music, movies, computers, some reading and some basketball, although I haven't played in a while. I'm generally shy quiet and I don't get out much, so I tend to be alone a lot. Thats all folks!

Oh man. My last chit got denied. A chit is a piece of paper you fill out requesting something. This chit was requesting to have the extra year on my contract dropped. Even though it is a mistake and the extra year isn't even supposed to be on my contract at all. Grrr.
Filled in another chit today, will so how "this" one does. Was a medeocre day following a bad day the day before. I find myself oddly frustrated that I spent all my time getting the aformentioned chit ready instead of studying for my advancement exam. I mean, what is the point of advancing if you are not staying in, everyone would agree?
I can already see the months closing in and me being stuck here in Virginia for another year. Saw a movie with Philadelphia in it today that made me homesick, even more so. Please do not let me be stuck here for another year with these awful people.
Have been reading Marvel comics "Civil War" on the PDF's I have on my computer. Whoring the hell out of every external hard drive I can get my hands on or borrow. Have about 1.5 terabites with plans to get another 1TB when I get back as they now make TB's that do not require their own power cord, you just plug em in via a usb cord and your computer powers them, makes the ease of things monumentously better. Are smaller now to, same size as a 500gig. So I have been loading up on Anime, Movies, Music, useful software, Wallpapers, V-games, anything deemed interesting. I already collect Wallpapers, images, both Anime and Photography, as well as RPG manuals on PDF, comics and manga on PDF, and I can never get enough sprite sets of 2-d V-games. I currently have almost all the monsters, characters, and magic animation of spells cast, from all of the classic FF games 1 through 6 that is.
Just got Avatar "The last Airbender" from someone. The quality is poor but I am interested in how it turned out. I wish I could have seen "Scott Pilgrim v the World" ah me. Got the newest Naruto and Bleach episodes from someone so I have been getting up to date with those and have plans to watch "Soul Eater" soon. I am reading, and have already finished several novels. Novels are a very good past-time at sea. I finished a book called "The Fall of Rome", a few Cowboy novels by Louis Lamore, a book of short stories by Chinese novelists, a book called "Mage Guard of Hamor" which was totally awesome, and am also reading the collected Sherlock Holmes novels. Halfway through that awesome beast too. Getting ready to listen to some new music as I rarely do that anymore but needed some new artists to encourage me. Have been listening to MC Chris's "MC Chris is Dead" album over and over and over, and Mike Doughty live. Always live.
MMmmm what else. Have met some new people through one of my very few friends on the ship and have started having regular games of "Munchkin" the card game. For those who don't know Munchkin is a card game that mocks D&D but is also fun as hell.
Vahu have you ever watched "The Angry Video Game Nerd"? Have any of you? His show is incredibly amazing in it's portrayal of a frustrated man reliving his past frustrations by re-playing all the oldest video games he can find. Type in AVGN at google or go to Cinnemassecre.com.
Thanks.

typing in cinnemassecre takes you to a dead domain name.
Typing in cinnemassacre takes you to a coldwell banker ad page. Check you URLs before you post for people to go to them bro.

Mmmmmmmah,
Been playing Halo Reach all night tonight. Man, so thrilling. It actually feels like I am getting excersice. Halo 3 wasn't really for me as much as Halo 2 but I am getting into Reach and I already had a great time playing the Beta a few months ago. Can't wait to get back to the States to play Matchmaking online. WOOBABY!
Been reading alot this deployment. Even more than usual. Have read like 3000+ pages worth of Novels so far. I have "also" gotten a few guys in my Birthing into playing Byond with me via a wireless network we just run off of whoever wants to host it's laptop; I gave them all the games that downloaded a while back including FFHGv4 thanks guys! Buuuuut I have a major problem. Whenever anyone hosts a v4 game it never lets you log back in with the same character twice unless you are the one hosting. What the hell is with that? Any advice? Anyone?
Pretty much means that if we want to play FFHG(which is by far the most fun game to play of all the ones I have even in =D v4_) We means that every time we play we have to make new Characters and try to beat the game in one sitting, no easy feat even back in v4 unless you have quite a few hours to do it.
I know I may have asked this before but is there any chance of releasing a newer version of FFHG for everyone to play offline? Version 5 for instance? Any of the versions where the enemies actually use magic/poison/paralyze/sleep etc. and have more variety than just straight attacking would mean a lot to me and I believe everyone as well.
Mmmm what else what else? Not much more I suppose. Looks like I will probably be in the Navy for another year :::shrug::: they really got me good on that one. I had my fingers crossed for a little bit, but, could be worse. One more year in Norfolk Virginia, at least it should mostly be on shore this time, ugh. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a month.
Ja na!

Whenever anyone hosts a v4 game it never lets you log back in with the same character twice unless you are the one hosting. What the hell is with that? Any advice? Anyone? The save files are hosted locally - that is, saved to the computer of the person who is hosting. If you stick with the same host then you will not have this issue.
