Comments here about the BH history thread!
Oldbie players feel free to share your stories here. Favorite memories, etc. =)
When I first came to FF:THG, I thought it would be a single player storyline, but allowing you to chat with friends. I was amazed to see that you could actually party with them! It was awesome...finally, I dont have to put in the commands for my entire party! I role-played a little bit, but not everyone else did..so it felt ackward. I first encountered Dagolar on my second day of playing. He was great. Always being patient, and taking time to talk to anyone who asked. He always had this in-character motif about him, too. Sometimes when we'd have psuedo-BH meetings in the BH tower, As I'd walk into the meeting table, he'd have his character sitting at the piano as if he were the owner of the tower...awaiting our arrival, just playing a tune.
I was dissappointed that the battle system wasn't very 'dynamic' at all. As a melee, you could either A.) attack B.) defend C.) run away. As a Mage, you could do the above, plus cast magic. Single target magic only. Very little enemies casted magic. You couldn't re-target a new enemy if your target died before your turn..you just lost your turn automatically. Ahh, good stuff. It was okay though, because I was playing a final fantasy game..with friends. That's what mattered the most ^^
Myself and Slash set out to read up on the storyline of the world. We loved the game soooo much. After we had beaten kaug at level 18 as a Knight/dragoon combo, we went straight to the Ranook Graveyard. After reading the tombstone, we realized that 'hey, this game actually DOES have a storyline'. We set off back to Dainan. Talked to the king, then proceeded to talk to the Nexus monastary nearby, in Northern Kreland. The brothers of Nexus there urged us on. We traveled through the Death Mountains once again and saught after the Nexus Monastary by Lirea. There our quest urged us on and we had to know what happens next!! But alas, it was v4. The ranook graveyard was as far as we could travel. I didn't get much time to travel with him throughout the world anymore after that, barring the reason he was banned. He always did like to argue. =P
Anyways. I always used knight because they could equip really the best gear in the game, and had the highest capability for strength builds. That all changed with abilities and now thankfully our melee jobs all are very well balanced. ^^ I also grew fond of Redmage at this time, and still love it to this day. =)
Anyone care to chime in about when they came to FF:THG for the first time? =) What was it like for you? What did you expect?
