I'm new here to FF:THG, and have made two characters here sofar. First as a dragoon I barley cared about what # enemy I was attacking unless I had to save one to heal at the end of battle. With my 2nd character being made a mage though It becaome important for me to know what number the enemy I'm attacking is so i can AoE properly.
I almost always have to squint to see what number i'm goin for. I asked some others a few times as well and most people I talekd to also agreed that they wished there was an option to increase the size of the numbers listed next to the monsters.
In some future version I think it would be nice to have the monster number size be a toggleable option.

I agree the number size is rather small, even if you use 'big' icons. However, when you decide to attack a monster, they're listed by the same numbers. You can also hover your mouse pointer over a monster, and the text description at the bottom of your BYOND client should say which number it is. Similarly, as a round's worth of battle unfolds, you can see which monsters have been attacked.
Neither of these methods are as easy to keep track of, but they still allow you to notice which monster(s) are softened up and which ones will require a little more force to defeat. So, the small number icons are a bother, but it won't prevent you from forming a battle plan if you make use of the alternatives.
