Considering the server is down this weekend , I thought I would take the time and to stir up some creative juices by posting a few character ideas for future consideration. I hope the Brotherhood is watching. Warning :this is a large post!
1. Giant classes - My first suggestion is not even really a class so to speak , but a suggestion to allow for other class ideas. EX.. compare an Imp to an ogre , imps are small sized icons and ogres are big icons . Imps are standard sized icons comparative to the current 10 classes available , but ogres are larger . A "large class" could allow you create some new classes not considered before , ex a "friendly ogre" or a "human Giant".
2. The Grey mage - a 50/50 cross between a Black mage and a White mage , This is not a redone Redmage but a totally unique character in that they are not the "jack of all trades" type of class the Redmage is. They are focused on the destructive magics of the Black mages and the healing powers of the White mages. A possible spell list is lit1, ice1, fire1, and cure1 at level 1. Level 2 would be meditate as usual and the path would follow a natural course from there , bringing the shield 1,2,and 3 powers of the White mage and the barrier 1,2, and 3 powers of the Black mage. Since they already have the Cure spell they would not get Drain and since they have the fire, ice, and lightning they would not get Harm . The perfect support Mage for large parties, without the stunted growth of the Redmages , seeing as how Redmages are little more focused on the fighting aspect of there characters. A very Yin-yang approach to a mage.
3. The Purple Mage - A unique mage class with unique spells and abilities . I do not have any ideas for the spell list, but considering how unique the Blue mage class is, I believe it could be pondered over by the very creative community of Brotherhood members and players. A new "Destructive" magic spell could be introduced with this character or a helpful spell for large parties could be introduced.
4. The Morph - A character that mimics its aggressors , like the ranger but transforms into ... Ex. an ambush of ogres ,imps, and spiders , A morph could choose 1 of these and mimic the monster(s) it faces , after battle it retains knowledge of the monster(s) it faced and can use that form against other monsters or it would be a learning process to become that monster and retain its shape or abilities. It would not have the mage spells a ranger learns however, but could still have a mana based pool (it costs mp to become an imp or uses mp to poison like a spider or cure itself like a Hill giant).
5. The Mechanical Class , Machine , Robot , or Engineer - A class that involves making a character that uses engineering skills Or is a robot. Considering the time line of thg , this may make a class like this impossible to add , however it could be stated that technology , although primitive, marches forward. A robot could also be a primitive , steam powered , with oil leaking from its joints , or it could be a suit of "iron man" armor that has to be driven from inside by the engineer.
6. Various class ideas that I have not been able to come up with scenarios for but worth pondering -
Pets : animal companions that fight along side of you.
Npc's : characters that fight along side of you or travel with you a short time involving quests or missions to complete. A good idea for depth in thg. ( Ex. The Dainarian Black mage who takes you to where the lost crystal is located in a cave. )
Warriors : A cross between the Fighter And Knight class.
Monster Classes : Chaotics that have been redeemed and are now forces for good or are neutral (Dragons , Wolves or Dogs, Imps, Ogres, Minor demons, Vampires ....etc
Oddball Classes : Alchemist- instills elements to weapons to itself or party members , Time mage - Fast, Slow, Stop, are obvious choices for this mage class, Gunweilder or Gunsmith - uses gun style weapons or rifles using gunpowder or "black"powder , could even make small explosives like dynamite using the same powder, Bards - uses music in its ways for healing or fighting or putting an enemy to sleep as an example , Summoners - Can create ice, air, water, or fire elementals , or can raise the dead like zombies to fight there battles for them.
Considering the path V8 is going ,trying to shy away from a "Final Fantasy" inspired game in the future I still think these are decent suggestions as they are inspired 50/50 between both.
