I know this is old, but at least it will revive the forums. Enjoy and discuss.

Well, on one hand, it knocked, for lack of a better word, prominent classes (like WMs and Rangers...though each to a different extent) down, but also knocked down Fighters and Thieves, who weren't exactly hot stuff to begin with (though I guess they'll be better in V8). It also boosted some classes that needed it (RMs, and to a lesser extent, BBs) and some that didn't (BMs, Goons--yeah, like I need more jerks making everyone hate my class of choice >_>).

The new experience requirement is not the only change. The message of the day on the server explains it though.
"There is a new level system. The level requirement is now equal for all classes, originally that of a bluemage. When using bonus points, your points placed will appear in the window and allow you to place more than one point at a time. Your points placed will also appear in your character tab."
I think the new level system is much better. By having an equal level requirement, the classes can be focused more on be equally balanced rather than to be separated by their various experience requirements, putting a gap between their balanced power. In the past, instead of trying to balance the classes equally, some just decided to raise or lower their requirement, creating this power gap. By eliminating these requirements, this gap can be more accurately closed with better balanced classes. It also did not help that some classes had an unbalanced requirement, such as the redmage.
The other changes are also very nice, such as the ability to see what stats you have placed your points into.
Some details you may not about the level system, since you cannot notice in game, but it works much better than the previous one with how it saves your character. The new level system recreates your character each time you load, so any changes on stat gain, stat bonuses, abilities, spells, or whatever else will always take affect without the need of editing previous files. Many other games have had this problem, usually leading to a player wipe any time they made major changes. The new level system gets rid of this problem with its new design. Any time something new is added, you can always be sure you will have it. Because of the little it saves, as it does not save your stats, skills, spells, and other, it also greatly reduces the amount of memory the files take up.
Because the experience requirement is the only controversial change, it is understandable that it is the topic discussed, but I just want to remind everyone, and explain it for those that may not know, the other neat features the new level system has brought us.
