A lot of stuff coming up.

On the topic of battles.
This idea was brought on cause I was trying to think of a way to limit a Dragoon's Jump ability. The first thing I thought was, "How can they even jump during boss fights? Vallatio is in a room, for crying out loud! Kaug's in a cave, GRYGASZ is in a cave, GEYZER is in a cave! The only one it remotely makes sense in is Magora - all other boss fights must have some sort of holes in the roof!" which is where it hit me. Though, it evolved very quickly from there. Here's what I think:
Darlow is a world where guns, nor supposedly even bows, exist. Just magic and swords 'n' shit. Because of that, it is easily vital to move around - you are dodging attacks, you are flanking enemies, all kinds of things. You don't just sit in one spot and wait for every thing to come to you. I hope.
This holds specifically true to battles of larger variety - battles you have to kind of strategize for. Ambushes and Boss battles. Save for Kaug, all the bosses *supposedly* use more than primal rage to solve problems. Vallatio is a tricky bastard, for example, calm, sinister, and intelligent. [See www.freewebtown.com/ffthg/Monsters.html ]
With this in mind, it is very possible for battles to actually migrate, somewhat. And, even if the battles themselves don't migrate, those inside the battle will. The map used for HG is 17x17 squares. Currently, the battle map uses approximately 9x14. My thought, is, if it is in fact planned that the battle maps won't be just a black screen, why not make it somewhat further and incorporate environment into the battle?
My thoughts for this are such: if you get hit, you would be likely to be knocked back, especially in a Slam Hit. If you dodge an attack, you would likely step to the side or backwards to actually dodge it, unless the person attacking gets THAT distracted. So, my idea means that the battle map becomes an actual interaction field, more or less: if you dodge, your character will actually move one of the directions to accomplish this. Same for the enemies. If there is something behind you or to your side (ie. a stalagmite) you would be less likely to dodge. Same for the enemies. If there is no opening above you, you can't call down Lit nor could you Jump.

Here, I just wanted to point out a couple of things that might be worth improving on the bosses. Or, might not. Either way.
Vallatio:
Take away tier-2 elementals, give him Shield, Barrier, and Osmose. His guards might could have Dispell.
Kaug:
Guards have dispell. Kaug must conform to what the Bestiary says (that, or the Bestiary updated completely), which is: "Kaug is angry and routinely out of control, always a split second away from falling into an uncontrollable rage, blindly smashing friend and foe with blatant disregard." As in, he occasionally smashes his troll guards.
Grygasz seems perfectly fine the way he is, honestly. Magora and Geyzer I won't bother with since they are still in v7 forms, and thus will be changed anyway.
/Idea Two

This one is a bit farfetched, but I thought of an addition to a v8 boss, perhaps Magora, perhaps not. A rather complex skill, perhaps, and I know what LP is going to think at the sight of this, but I think it would be a nice addition:
Virtual Image - An Investigator is animated/reanimated, and is corrupt. Corrupt Investigator is a random class, and the average level of the Investigators fighting against (boss) with similar skills accordingly, and has boosted Vit, Agi, and HP.
