Hey I was asking other players today if the Brotherhood was aware that there are programs what will reboot the game for you auto-matically if it crashes. Players told me that yes the Brotherhood had tried such a program called "clone" to disasterous results. I thought "what the hell" I used to use a program that worked great with an old game I ran and maybe they don't know about it. It is called MySQL and like I said it worked great for me. www.mysql.com/products/tools/administrator/is the link. Good luck. Hey, a quick suggestion. Is it possible to have a posting area for server related queries, suggestions, etc? The bugs and suggestions areas don't seem to fit the topic.

once the game upgrades to the new byond, crashes will not occur.

I have no idea what this "clone" program is, but we never used it. We have tried several different methods for automatic rebooting when the server crashes, however none of the crash checks would work. Usual crashes would make a server go down, which is easy to check for, and the current server monitor we have does do. However, the crash we have is from a limit problem that makes the input command stop returning the value from players, causing any proc with the input proc to freeze while waiting for an input that is never going to return.
BYOND 4.0 does fix this problem, so once we do upgrade to BYOND 4.0, the crash will no longer occur. We have plans to upgrade to BYOND 4.0 sometime after the new battle engine when we work on the new interface.

So does this mean we -aren't- looking at a new battle -sytem- in v8, and will still be using pop-ups?

The new battle engine is the first step for the new battle system. The new battle engine will be in version seven. The new interface will be version seven. There is still a lot of planning left for the new battle system, but with the new battle engine, when the new battle system is ready, the new battle engine will make it a lot easier to do.

Well, I would have to know what build of BYOND they are using of BYOND 4.0, and what causes the crashing of their game. However, in build 413.978 the release notes state:
"BYOND limited background procs, including any proc waiting for results from input(), alert(), winset(), winget(), etc., to just over 65000 and did not account for the procs being finished. This caused behavior like no new input() or alert() boxes popping up."
So, from what I can see from that, the input bug should no longer be a problem in BYOND 4.0 with the build 413.978 and beyond.
